my cousin and aunty both live around sydney and love it, however 2 m8s of mine both emigrated lock stock and barrel, and both came back within 2 years.
the decorator said that he would go into the yard in melbourne on a monday ,and his boss would send him to a job 150 miles each way round trip, plus he said the wages dont stretch as far as uk sterling.
the other guy had a british mixed race wife, and that went down like a lead balloon with the aussies, they cam back after 6 months.
however you dont know unless you try it
good luck DN

So, cant go on the job for few weeks yet, the fella hasnt got the official contract order yet but i could really do with somthing to fill that "few weeks" in - been off work but doing bits and bats for ages now, overdraft is taking a battering, so if anyone knows of anything goin........
I do have some footings, slab and drains to put in for a stable block but as this is at the bottom of a half mountain called parlick, every time it rains the land turns in to a bog!!! i dont think theres any chance of being able to do that soon, unless we get a cold snap before xmas.
How is everyone else fairing?

down to 2 weeks of real work, loads of jobs priced but nothing as yet
got 2 extensions in the new year, but they are both in for planning which will take 14 weeks, and as we all know anything can happen in 14 weeks
I reckon more than 50% of the lads i know in the building game are out of work right now,and the ones that are working are getting hammered wage wise.
still as long as you have your health and a roof over your head ,anything is possible
who knows i may even get round to block paving my own drive :;):

It just does not make sense out at the moment the mob i work for is a metal firm we are all of our feet at the mo, but comanys we supply to are on no overtime hours cut back and even some have had to close down for a week here and there.
My mate does work for B&q and he has a steady flow
and when you go down the pub its packed as well,
i do loads of driving and you can tell on the roads its far from back to normal, you can even get a clear run on the M1 and M6 to birmingham.
Lets hope this get back to normal and soon..
cheers simon

and if you haven't got the roof then theres a little project to pass the time rather than daytime tv,
we're less than busy doing bits and bobs here till new year but can drop in and out on my dads site which is lucky. just accepted an offer on my house, couldn't sell it for a year now had 2 people bidding on it. so gotta find a new one and start over on that.

I jacked in the machine driving, too many a-holes jumping on it and getting jerked around by agencies and promises.
I work in a cheese factory now. 4 on 4 off and 26k a year, used my NVQ's to land a job setting and minding a machine. 10 miles down the road. Similar wages to what I was getting if you take into account petrol and travelling.
The missus is made up, no more dirty boots and wet clothes

Cant believe how many more new landscaping and groundworks vans have popped up round here over the last couple of months though. Only consilation is i can spend a bit of time at home with my newborn little lad and nowt beats that
