Just got home from another funeral of a good friend who's died v. quickly from colon cancer. This is now the third female friend in 2 yrs who's now brown bread from cancer.
Lost my mum this year to the same, but she was 82, having had fantastic life. Losing brilliant female friends, all around the age of 50 is pissing me off - Jeannie's two sons today were fantastic - early 20's - she was so looking forward to being a grandmum.......bollox - there is no God.

Please -- to all -- make sure you go for your cancer screenings -- gents, that means PSA and that other exam that I know you all hate.
There's still no guarantees, but regular screening can help minimise its impact on your -- and your loved ones -- lives.
If you can't take care of yourselves for your own good, take care of yourselves for those who love you.

Also lost a couple of close family friends to cancer, terrible shame, fantastic folk.
Btw Suggers, i can beat you on the stuck foties :p One of the lads who claimed to know what he was doing was let loose with a 14 tonne trailer and tractor, got it stuck on sunday, spent all monday morning at it and got it freed at around 1pm
Took the forklift to push from the back, tractor to drag the trailer and me in the other tractor to pull from the front. And the mini digger lol

There is an old chap who goes to my local watering hole I think he is around 80 and he tells some wonderful stories of when he was young.
He had a haulage firm (hardcore) and purchassed an old brickworks back in the 60's to use as a screeding yard. (you may know him tony he is called frank coyne, from Blackburn)Anyways, he was telling me he had worked in the sudan and allover the world for caterpillar as a diesel fitter on the big plant machines. Back in the 50's he did his national service in the Royal Engineers. His sergent told him to drive a tank into a nearby field used for training and to get the tank stuck so they could show how to get it out.
Off he went and returned 20 or so mins later and told the sergent it was in place. They all went to the field and there was no tank to be seen. When the sergent asked him where it was he pointed to a large muddy puddle and said " its there sergent" He told me all you could see was the odd bubble ripple the otherwise still puddle.
He was put on report and lost his leave for the weekend.
Sorry to bore you all, but the smile on his face when he told me this story was a picture.
Just for the record my dad also died of cancer. To make it worse, my mum and dad were married for 55 years and when he passed away my mum lost the will to live. She died exactly 12 month's later to the day. The cause was put down to natural causes, but I and my brother put it down to a broken heart.
Anyway, Merry christmas to everyone and heres looking to a healthy and prosperous 2008..
Mick.
