Self-binding gravel

Setts and cobbles, tarmac, asphalt, resin systems, concrete whether it's plain, patterned or stencilled, gravels, etc.

Hi, when using self-binding gravel, should the maximum particle size be half of the compacted surface depth in the same way as a sub base (i.e. If I want a 40mm compacted top surface, should I ask for 20mm to dust?) or does it not matter so much?

Any other guidance or general tips on self binding gravel welcome also...

Cheers

Dampening the aggregate prior to rolling helps create an early but temporary 'binding' that will get it through the first couple of weeks with fewer problems.
