Anyone been through Preston recently? Most of the roads have been dug up, which I dont have a problem with but I have a noticed a lack in safety barriers, signs etc. The main bit on Garstang road looks well signed with sufficient barriers but some have hardly any which you cant see with the workers in the road and walking in between lorries which are parked well over onto the drivers side of the road surely this is not permissible. If this wrong how come they get away with it? Just curious

sounds like the highways inspector isnt doing his job. could be subbies working to a tight price and skimping on the safety. once there is an accident the buck will be past no doubt.

Having worked in Preston for 3 years back in the late 80s, I reckon it will be misappropriation - they've been nicked!

Ack shirley, the traditional steel tempoarry traffic signs, you know the sort of thing - Peds Bog Off, Arrow signs, Man with Umbrella - are being nicked left right and centre because of the relatively high value of scrap metal. A jonb lot has been nicked from a major road reconstruction job just up the road from me.
