Lack of fine particles in my mot type 1

When I'm raking my MOT around all the fines are dropping to the bottom and when shovelling the excess to other areas or the wheel barrow all I'm picking up is the big particles.

This results in an uneven spread - some areas looks dusty other just stoney...before I put any grit sand down i'd like to top up the gaps between the large particles a bit. Is there anything suitable for this? Or will the grit sand find its way into the gaps on the surface when the wacker is run over it?

I'm sure I read a post on here recently naming something suitable but I can't find it now.

This is normal. As long as you don't exclusively have big stones in any areas don't worry. If you do, just dig some more evenly mixed stuff up nearby and mix it about a bit. In this weather, it can be very dusty and benefits from a light hosing. You'll soon know when you whack it. If the stones still move about with each pass, you might want to blind the area as described.

If you end up with a compacted sub-base with lots of voids at the surface, it's best to 'fill' then with grit sand before placing the laying course.

Scatter grit sand over the surface and use a brush to work it into the voids. Run the plate or roller across it a few times to settle the sand into the gaps, and top-up again if necessary, until all the voids are gone.

I did consider a small amount of grit sand added to the mix on the surface would be advantageous. At least that means i only have to use materials I already have knocking around.
