sorry Joe, for the colloquialism .
I meant her father.
when your dad is a hod carrier and your mum is a char lady those TV contracts seem to become a little more elusive.
I tell you what though, that nick knowles is a clued up guy,he writes and produces all those DIY sos programmes
only problem is ,i end up screaming at the telly so mrs LLL wont have it on anymore
i.e."jane and andy from bognor ripped out their bathroom suite 138 years ago,now they need our help"
for this read "couple of layabouts on the make ,want summat for nought, even though their whole life will be laid bare on national TV for the sake of a 5 grand bathroom"

is it just me? or does anyone else get worked up watching these dossers getting their houses and gardens done up for sweet FA while us lot just get out and do it??
calm down LLL
calm down
LOL

I was once asked to help out with a diarmud gavin garden he was doing in Hemel. I said no, mainly cos i think he's not a garden designer and shouldn't call himself so, but also, I had to do it for free!! blood cheek!

What gets my goat is the 'allow £1,000/m2 for building costs'. Yer right. Anyone ever acheived that for a complete fit out?

Concrete creativity - the front of Leigh Library, constructed by local builder Geo. Moss & Sons in the late 1960s with some formwork and groundworks by my late Father. This was conceived and built at a time when concrete was the miracle material of the age.

Look at the crazy aztec-like design on the front....

<coff> d'you lot know that the vast percentage of houses over here are made of concrete block with stucco facing?

Not ours, though -- we have one of a rare handful of wooden houses.

yes matt ,i too am past the stage of worrying what folk can *afford*
i.e. we live in a 650k house but can you do our wall for £800 instead of your quoted £1200??

what shall i tell j.sainsbury when the missus goes shopping and the bill is £120??

sorry i have been working for peanuts for rich folk ,will you take £80 for cash??

nowadays i give them the price and the breakdown ,and thats that
no friends and family discount,no discount for cash, and no i dont fancy doing building work in my *spare* time for *pound notes*
(the pound notes seems to be a recurring theme with a lot of people, who assume that because you are a builder you must be stupid too)

it takes all sorts i suppose

regards LLL :)

There are those who do the work and those who take the credit. i like to belong to the first group, because there is to much competition in the second lot :;):
