A close shave - Hey - i'm alive

This week-end I nearly killed meself - little 4-wheel drive Pel-Job 750 skip-loader - fantastic little machine - use it loads - taking spoil up to the the top field - on a slight incline - trying to be clever, and put next bucket-load behind existing heap, raised the lift, and we started to tip sideways! - looking back, I should've just pulled lever back (hindsight) - anyway, as she went over in slow motion, I stood on highest point, and jumped to the left. My lovely little baby fell over and stalled.
Can't believe what I've done. Luckily, a phone call to Little Tone, he arrives with big tractor with front loader and tips it upright. I owe him - he owes me actually, but that's another story. Now, she won't start - of course, the oil has flooded into the top of engine - 999 call to my mate Dougie - (he shoots & uses his ferrets on our land as & when he pleases}releases the pressure - oil hits him straight on his bonce - Swarfega time - and dinner - bump it down the hill and she starts ok - burns off a bit of oil.....
Just trying to say that I've got blase with some of this machinery we all use - this has been a bit of a wake-up call - could have been underneath the dumper, the missus is at work, no motherf*****r's gonna hear my cries.
Take care out there my friends - guess what, just bought new Stihl chainsaw.......

heh unlucky, aslong as you werent hurt. My foreman tipped our mini digger while digging out for an amphitheatre. He caught the bucket on a rock and at pulled the digger over the little ledge he was working on, then he done it again a week later :/

That digger has been on its side 4 times in its life, and not once has a window smashed heh

I've done similar with a 750 dumper, dangerous little things they are. Loaded, driving over uneven ground, went to tip and over she went, slowly - thankfully, I was able to "walk" over the tipping machine the correct way and stay out of danger.

Certainly taught me to respect these small but handy machines.

I'm known as "Dumper Dave" - I had an "off" with a fully loaded 9 tonner back along.....

We were paving a golf course access track and loading our paving machine from the dumper (Which was being loaded from the insulaed wagon some 400M down the hill in the car park)

Whilst traversing over an underground culvert, the side of the road gave way (I might have been a little too close to the edge) and the front axle of the dumper was half way into this culvert.

All I could do is sit tight and leave the handbrake on and pray the dumper didn't slip in/tip over any further....

All I can say is thank god for the 5 ton digger we had close by, gave me a helping hand out of that ditch!

same thing happened to me loading a skip last year.
Just got of in time. Never heard such a thud before as it hit the concrete. oil everywhere! got the digger to right it and it started 1st time...hire people never even noticed.

should have an awards ceremony for the best tipping experience...would make excellent tv viewing at least on par with cop chases and the like
