Full mortar bed

Patio flagstones (slabs), concrete flags, stone flags including yorkstone and imported flagstones.

Hi,

Cany body tell me what mix to use when laying a full wet mortar bed under flags. I have been told 5:1 building sand/cement or 5:1 grit sand/cement or 3:2:1 grit/building/cement. Is there a preferred mix or does it not really matter?

A Class IV mortar is usually adequate - see the Mortars page for a fuller explanation.
