Paving over an inspection chamber

I am having my garden landscaped at the moment. The garden previously had a large rectangular manhole and about 1m away from that was a small plastic inspection chamber (about 20cm across - an OsmaDrain).

The area they are both in is to be patioed over and the gardener will be using a recessed tray for the large manhole cover. However he says he is unable to raise the smaller inspection chamber and instead he has suggested just laying a single paving slab loosely over it. The slab would be only partially concreted in and so could easily be chipped out if access was required.

Is this a satisfactory solution? Are we breaking any laws by doing this?

The smaller one sounds like a rodding point and you will struggle to find a recessed cover that small.

I don`t suppose the drainage police will be knocking your front door down if you do flag over it but as a contractor it is a pain in the a£%e when people move house and dont pass the knowledge on.

With a cover that small would it not be possible to disguise it with a plant pot?

Sadly the cover is right bang in the middle of the patio. If it were at the edges then I would just lay some shingle or something over it, but it just isn't practical. The current plan is to produce a diagram of the wiring in the garden and the drainage access points and stick it in a prominent position so future owners will know about it.

Would the manhole about 1m away not suffice for access?

the rodding eye,if that what it is ,was put there for a reason,but i'm sure if you make sure the run is roddable from any direction you should be ok
