I read in the paper today that a new guide has come out to help clients get a feel for what a builder shoud be charging.

At least it may make people realise that you can't get a patio for £200 like these TV shows do, but I don't know how good or useful it will be.

As Ian Davis, the director-general of the Federation of Master Builders, mentions things like access can have huge cost implications. In London, the parking situation can also make a big difference.

also materials can vary hugely ,as well as access you have the congestion charge in central london £40 a week.plus in certain places (mentioning no names st. albans) a cup of soup costs £1.65!!
all these things add up different on different jobs
cheers LLL
PS i never price of a drawing alone

That's it - had enough - I'm gonna be a sparky - in the pub tonight, an old friend, actually he's young - early 30's - just finished in Bedford Sq. Londinium - small squad of fully qualified sparks, just been paid (in my book) an outrageous sum of money. Parked just outside the congestion line (Euston) - then hoofed it with all their kit & cable to no.27. Worked for 2 days (fed & watered) - then back home to sunny Chesham.
Wot a life - I'm soakin' wet, chilled to the bone, just finished 140m of post & rail.
ps LLL - this'll make you laugh - my missus is a planning & conservation officer in Snalbans (as it's known). Engaged in a desperate fight with Tesco at the moment, trying to stop them pulling that 30's cinema down.

pps - I never price off a drawing alone either - I insist on another woman present.
