Kandla Grey - I messed up
Hi,
Last year we had a new patio laid with Kandla Grey - fantastic job. However over the winter some rust
spots appeared. Local hardware store suggested a chemical - acid based to remove them. I tried this and
while it initially appeared to work two weeks later large orange/yellow patches appeared.
Our paver suggested maybe using sealer to darken the stone - but if anything this probably made
it worse.
Any suggestions at all would really appreciate it -

Thanks
John

You are going to have to remove the sealer first before you attend to the stain/damage the acid has caused, what sealer have you used?

There was two sealants used but in different areas - Protect IT Sealant and Larsen Path and Patio Sealer.
I've wondered would it be cheaper to replace it than try to repair it.
Appreciate any advice.

It might be cheaper to replace?, depending on how many square metres you have etc, but you'd be looking at around £500.00 per day for a sealer removal service, it's a slow and messy task.

Re: Kandla Grey - I messed up
ill have to do the maths - its about 50-60 sq metres to replace so wont be cheap either way.
is there a chance that over time it will weather out ?

You'd need to remove the sealer 1st, over time there is a possibility that the Iron staining may fade, could take months, years?, it may never go unfortunately.

Thanks Roger for info.
Will probably leave this over winter and see if it changes at all and then figure out plan in the spring.
