When does everyone finish for Christmas?

With the big day being on a Monday, it seems that finishing on Friday seems to leave precious little time for all those essential last-minute erands, such as getting in a few pints, checking the car and nipping to the Spar for xmas gifts.

I know one of my local contractor mates is closing down on Wednesday, as he reckons his lads will be effing useless Thusday and Friday anyway, so he might as well not be paying them to nurse hangovers on his time.

The grandkids don't finish school/nursery/borstal until Friday, so at least their poor mother won't have to listen to endless arguing and bickering until the Saturday....I may well render myself tactically incommunicado just in case whe wants me to supervise them while she does they mysterious things that mums do in the couple of days before Christmas.

Another xmas lunch today. I shouldn't be so curmudgeonly, but do we really need so many booozy dinners in the lead-up to the BIG boozy dinner? How much turkey can one man eat in a month?

I finished last Thursday and was on the plane Friday by choice. Feel sorry for other guys who are being made to finish Wednesday, they lost a lot of money through rainy/snowy days. Long time to be off work for a one day extravaganza :O

I keep telling my missus that I only finish on Sunday, like all other slef-employed people, and that I have to be back at work around about 3pm on the 25th, but she's insisting that I'm not working today, apparently, but am escorting her to the shopping hell in town.

Oh.

The.

Joy!

Normally, I'd be with you, but she's still recovering from major surgery and can't drive, or walk for long, or, seemingly, summon the strength to extract her purse from the handbag!

Consequently, I'm chauffeur, escort and general dogsbody...and no sign of that changing for at least another month.

I sit outside each shop like a good boy reading the racing page. Even lets me access my ladbrokes app and have a bet with no nagging ( pardon the pun ). Get buried in an ever increasing mound of bags and boxes to look after. Bet at least 75% gets returned after crimbo after the trying on ceromonnies ??? :(
Bah humbug.
