Burnoff / road planings instead of type 1

Hi

Getting block paving done and guys have used something called burn off (which I think is road planings) instead of type 1 as the sub base.

Just want to know if this is ok or if I am getting ripped off?

Any replies appreciated.

I've not used it for a subbase for block paving I know of a few others who have my only experiance with it is we used a couple of loads straight from the planner for a temporary access road was roughly graded out and tracked in when we came to do a final grade about 6 months later it was solid undigable with a spade or pick

ill probilly get hung for saying it but i have used road plainings for drive way sub base, never had a issue, round hear they they sell for £16 a ton, big demand for them for road topping MSH

type 1 is expensive in London ,the correct way is with type 1 crushed limestone or granite but what did they quote for?
I have seen many techniques including lean mix but the key thing is will they guarantee it in writing
compaction of the sub base is the key part in all this,it must be well compacted,a roller or heavy wacker plate is best >85kg

tipped dont always work depending
when they were doing the M1 near me planings were £10 a tonne
I think in the north and scotland they get type 1 a lot cheaper

50 for bulk at TP..On a grab tony as long as muck away .tonne upwards .hows tricks mate

Been freezing hasn't it . Been on a persimmon for about 6 months at the death now couple of months left .
