Invasion of wales - Flying the flag

Heres one you all may like.
Few years ago i was working on the pedestrianising of the town centre in a staunch welsh town called Dolgellau.
Im a welshman and my mates who love the craic are from just over the border in shropshire, there was daily banter about the welsh/english debate.
The council engineer was a fussy bastard who insisted that we regect the reddish sets(Marshalls natural stone quarried in derbyshire I believe) in favour of the more grey, he wanted to keep the greyness of the town, anyway we were there for months the job was going sound and the craic continued bit of a pain having to be selective with each set when all you wanted to do was lay flat out,
Anyway having just completed me and my shropshire mates were involved in different jobs for a while but the next time I caught up with them they couldn't wait to let me in on there secret, the secret being that because we were having to reject the reds(Although keeping a few of the lesser shade) on one of the bigger areas the buggers only went and patterned in a large george cross that no bugger could easily see unless pointed to apparently, I was up there like a shot when i had the time, and sure enough in front of the tourist information area was what i could make out was an absract red cross, I suppose symbolising the english invasion by them Blaggards,
The community would of gone bonkers if they new as they used to burn your bloody house down in them parts just for being from across the border.
Sad thing is I managed to snitch a few spares of the job and done a bit of an area at home, predominately reddish as these were just being dumped as far as i could see at the time, but they have weathered and they dont show as dark as before.
Dont know how they look up in dolgellau as its been a few years, ha
You gotta have a bit of craic cos youre a long time jedd.
