I need to site a gazebo in my walled garden and the instructions say it needs to be on a concrete base. Not sure how much turf I need to dig nd if I need to lay the concrete on a membrane. Any ideas, apart from ring a builder..?!! All suggestions gratefully received!

Construction of a simple concrete slab is covered on the main website - see Concrete hardstanding page.
I'm not so sure about Matthew's suggestion to use 40-50mm of sub-base. That's not really enough to be anything other than a blinding. Sub-bases should always be at least twice the depth of the largest particle, and given that Type 1 material has to pass through a 37.5mm sieve, that means you need at least 75mm for it to act as a sub-base.
