Cheers Tony & Mick

Its been good so far. Lots of travelling, which IS bloody hard work over here in this heat.

Its been a great few days over here. I spoke today at a conference on child labour (luckily I had a translator :))

Yesterday was the best though. We spent the day with an NGO in the heart of Budhpura. We met the community leaders, local people, we visited some local schools. At the end of the day we had a meeting with all the cobble traders.

There are lots of issues over here but I have been overwhelmed by the amount of good stuff happening. I was particualrly inspired by meeting a group of young, local volunteers who are at the heart and soul of driving this project to get kids out of work. I'll get a blog post up when I get back but without a shadow of a doubt change is afoot

Just got back from a great trip to India. Spent half my time on the child labour free zone project and the rest of the time visiting my current suppliers. I'm going to be writing a detailed blog on the child labour project towards the end of the week, should make for an interesting read....lots of food for thought.

Here are a few general stone pictures from my recent trip to India. As always there a few wildcards in there after all TII (This is India)

Block saw cutting a 16ft block. They dont get much bigger than this

Quality checking some project material. 1200x1200x60mm Kandla grey. Riven surface and sawn edges.

Stones laid out for inspection of quality and colour variation

Slabs of sawn kandla grey. These have been sat for the past 9 months. Iron oxide is an issue with this stone so seasoning the slabs is a precaution to prevent the dreaded orange marks coming through

I was trying to keep a low profile to be honest Tony :)
In all seriousness though every time I go to India every stone supplier in Kota gets wind of it. A little bit unnerving at time.

Cookie, they are absolute beasts. Minimum, four man lift all day along. I think they are going to hire a small crane/slab lifter
