Precautions with delayed jointing - Should i cover the patio ?

First thanks for putting together such an amazing resource. Never laid a patio before and just finished after 8 solid days of hard graft... great to have the confidence after studying your site, and the result is great.

One question remains !!! I cannot do the jointing as we keep getting the odd shower (I compacted the blocks as I needed to return the rented compactor). BUT I'm now going to be away for a week now and it looks wet until I leave. Should I cover the patio until I get round to jointing to avoid too much rain / muck getting between the blocks, or is there nothing to gain from that ?
