thanks Tony and Mick.
I think those covers look a lot better than the normal ones and are a lot quicker and easier to cut in too

I still am looking for traditional manhole covers that look good
all those inset covers are a PITA when they have been down a year or two

I am told even the weatherpoint resin what may get down the side cant stop them from being lifted out due to a slight taper of the sides so a bit of kiln dried sand won't stop them either

while watching the above video saw this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdzs9jeetQ0

not sure what he is saying?
is it easier to lay fast on sand that looks like it was screeded with a rake

does the subbase count as speed?

when do they do the cutting in?

I am sure the russian lad can lay fast on a prepared bed with many hands loading for him

but to be fair so can most people

reminds me of the fastest bricklayer contests
never looked real

seen that video before, I had a guy work for me a few years ago and I videoed him laying 1m2 (50 blocks) in 44 seconds, no way he could keep it up all day though...

Excellent stuff George, immaculate cutting.
Elite, Excel, Elise, do Marshalls have a thing about Lotus cars?

Thanks for the comments, the customer gave me a rough sketch showing how they wanted the driveway which I expanded on. Pretty much the same for the back.
Cheers

That is how most commercial pavers lay blocks. I can't understand why he is back laying or laying from a line though.
There work looks a bit rough.
On commercial work with big areas we'd complete between 100 to 200 m2 in a day.
I've got a similar video to that of myself laying on my laptop somewhere.

Oh and the Elise job got my vote on the Marshalls nationals btw. Not keen on the blocks but the layout is well thought out and the cuts are outstanding.

He might be laying an area where the kerbs are not set out at 90 off the base line. He's still laying backwards though and his screed is rough to say the least.
I've got an old vid I just youtubed. the lugs on the permiables slowed me down a bit and my dad ( excuse his language )hadn't done a vid or even used a smart phone before but this is how we bang in down.
It's probably the same way we all lay. I don't know?

I know what you mean Tony. What makes me laugh is he still talks to me like that, checks my levels, screed, cuts ect on my jobs and I'm paying his wages.
They are 80's. My arms are 4" longer now than they were at 16 from laying those bloody things.
There not as bad as 80mm tegs though.

did a 1,000m2 road in 80mm tegs in the 90's, when it was finished I said I never want a job that big again and to this day only had 2 jobs close to it but in 50mm blocks

we was laying 135m2 a day, think it worked out at 19 packs, your just a block slave until that final pack goes down
