my fence has nearly had it and while I could replace it it would cost around 1200 quid so I was woundering what you recon a wall would cost its 24m long and I want it about 1,5 high :p
Its going to cost more than twice what a fence, will not to mention you can build the fence yourself. Masonary is very expensive labour wise compared to a fence.

yep thanks fence it is then just one thing though would blocks be cheaper ?
The blocks will be cheaper and quicker to lay but then you have to pay a plasterer to render it etc so it'll work out perhaps 500-1000 quid cheaper depending on brick cost but more maintenance long term.

why would u go so deep with the footing, 225mm would be plenty?
the old rule of thumb used to be the concrete in the footing would be 25% of the wall height
so roughly 375 deep
however if i am going to put my name to something it has to be done as bullet proof as possible
a wall never went over from being over engineered
a job we are starting tomorrow the original builders went 1m deep for a 7ft flint wall
after 2 years the wall started listing badly and ended up leaning over by 200mm out of plumb
it was acrowed over and vertical steels drop against the wall to hold it up
