Hi folks,
Ive been looking at buying a probst screeding set, but im struggeling to work out how to set up the screed rails when screeding large areas.
The bit that im struggeling to understand is that do the rails that are placed in the sand not move about when screeding, because surely they cant be as solid as a kerb?
How do you accuratley set the rails up?
Any help will be gratefully received.

hi DN, i,ve had probst screeding systems for years brilliant bit off kit, no more wet knees and crawling about in sand,i always use 20mm conduit for screed rails i have about 20 lengths so i can screed a bit area at once.pull a string line following the direction of fall and set your conduit at 55m below line for 60m blocks or 45mm for 50 mm blocks,once set in the sand rails don't move,lay the rail beside the line and scratch out a grouve using a guageing trowel so the rail drops in and top down to level using a rubber hammer and a tape measure every metre or so good well compacted sand is needed to make the best of the probst system as it slices through the sand and makes a tight screed, you can get rollers to go in the end of the screeder to screed from kerbs or block edges which are very usefull, rail need to be bang on to you dont screed a puddle in the sand no bent rails, give me a call if you want to chat about it my nuber is on my web site, MSH

i must try that probst gear. but its not cheap. worth every penny once you've had one right?

My first Probst block splitter I bought new in 1996 broke this year, the screw thread on adjuster give out, but its fixable at a push, block barrow was new in same year still works fine just one small weld about half inch long was done,screeders never been any trouble I have 4 of them, you cant beat Probst quality at its best,the are a few other bits and pieces around the shed to such as the cordless suction slab lifters too MSH
