No chance of getting to the yard never mind a site, gave up after an hour.
We tried to think ahead and booked the lads on some H&S courses at the end of this week, keep them wam in a classroom for a couple of days but i doubt if we can get to the venue.

Agree with Cookie - York aint great - went out and took 45 minutes to get 5 miles so we turned round and came home

Had some contract work to grit some car parks over at Burnley this morning. Would have taken me 4 times longer than normal if there was any salt around.
earliest any of the suppliers are hoping to get deliveries is towards end of month.
Ah well we'll be back in shorts and t-shirts by then lol

Almost 200mm of snow here now, the most I've seen in 20 years of living here....
....just stuck the camera out of the window of my office, and the snow is still coming down!

dont worry cookie i'm sat in my lounge with my feet up, got my little boy as the ex cant cope with the snow or something. been out in my navara today no worries delivered some plasterboards and insulation to a mate redoing his loft. weren't many people out. but i had no problems, spoke to mum and dad up in the peaks got over 8 inches on their farm. dad was ploughing again with the 8 ton to try and make it to the main road. its about half a mile down hill all the way haha, he using the old 110 rather than his navara in case he does go sliding around.

Our Problem in Belfast is not the snow which has only been light but the frost and ice. Had one van leave the road this morning and the sand that got delivered was full of frozen blocks so thats a non starter. Called a halt to everything had a meeting with them all we're doing a maintenance day tomorrow then we're off till the temp rises. They're not happy but there's nothing that we can do till then. I'm not prepared to loose a van or have a call back on a job because we worked when we shouldn't have. Salt is a commodity more valuable than gold right now over here.

at the risk of raising the ire of my northern compatriots ,I am pleased to report no snow in luton
we had it for a fortnight and i was glad to see the back of it
cleaned out 2 lock ups today,
gtg and do some demolition tomorrow indoors, if we aren't snowed in again
I am 100% with you guys on the safety side,if there is snow on the road,I aint going to work
not a barn dance

Too true
I reckon we have 6 ton of Salt left, which will do us for one snowfall.
No more grit deliveries for at least two weeks,
Had 20 ton of coarse sand, and 30 ton of brown salt delivered this afternoon. Got to mix it all together in the morning with the loader and see whether it will go through the machines, or more likely, clog
One of our lads got taken home this morning with a suspected broken arm after slipping. - The irony of it was he was about 6 inches away from the 12 tons of grit

snowed in central Scotland again last night, never been above -1-2 during the day -6-7 at night. my brothers work have been told not to come in for over a week (pours structural precast concrete). were meant to start on the roof of a new build collage come Thursday, no chance of that happening.

got to try and get to work as being in digs, if don't go I lose my subsistence money. I would still have to pay my landlady. Blokes on some of our jobs told to go home today, not good. We get 21 pound a day for two weeks, for severe weather payment if can't get in. After that we have to go dole. jobs like motorways men sent home because ground to hard to dig and snow dangerous.
