Do you think they'll get CSI in? That Greek lass from New York with the curly hair would be able to sort it out, she always does.

Quote - POLICE are investigating after a 21-year-old undergraduate was found dead on fields at a university campus.

David Whitlock's body was discovered on a playing field near the university's sports centre on Saturday morning.

It is thought he may have been lying there overnight before being spotted by a passing student.

Police are not treating the circumstances as suspicious, although they do not know what caused him to collapse.

A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out later today.

David, who came from the Kingstanding area of Birmingham, was a first-year student living in university accommodation at Keele.

His death has sent shock waves through the campus and comes just days after reports of a sexual assault at the university.

Officials stress there is no link between the two incidents, which are both being investigated by police.

David Gray, university head of security, said: "We are not aware of anything that would cause any concern for other students on the campus as a result of this. An incident of this nature is extremely rare.

"Our focus is on the welfare of the students on campus and on looking after David's family.

"His mother, father and sister came to Keele yesterday. We spent much of the day with them and will be keeping in touch with them in the coming weeks as things develop."

The alarm was raised on Saturday, at about 11am, and an ambulance was called, but David was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police cordoned off a swathe of open land and scenes of crime officers set up a forensics tent on the sports field.

The spot where David was found is not far from a footpath, across the road from the Chancellor's Building car park. It is also close to the Barnes Hall accommodation.

Third-year law student Matthew Varnham, who lives in Barnes Hall, was shocked to hear of the death.

The 20-year-old said: "Everyone seems to have been a bit freaked out by it.

"I didn't know the guy personally, but it has left everyone shocked. Students are very worried."

Police are understood to have spoken to a number of other students to try to piece together what happened to David.

They also broke the news to his family at the weekend.

A police spokesman said "Our thoughts and sympathies continue to be with them at this extremely difficult time.

"While we are treating the death as unexplained, we do not, at this stage, believe it to be suspicious."

Its happened again...again,

One of the professor's this time, lovely bloke, always pleasant, used to run two laps of the sportsfield every dinner time. Apparently, this time, keeled over in the changing room, and hit his head, had a fit, and wasn't able to be revived

All three have been found within 100 metres of our yard.
