While eating me tea yesterday, the tellybox was on and I spotted a nadvert from a well-known windows company that have branched out into driveways. Like the car manufacturers and boiler makers have done, they are now enticing customers with a "scappage scheme".

Basically, they'll allegedly knock off money for your old windies if you buy their new windies at top dollar prices.

So....why doesn't someone do this for driveways? Put a nadvert in the local paper announcing your brand new for 2010 "Driveway and Patio Scrappage" scheme, whereby anyone booking a new driveway/patio before the end of February will be given a discount for their old paving based on its value as recycled hardcore.

Just a thought..... :D

saw it and thought rip off :;):
spoke to a long time gypsy mate of mine today (old school mates)
anyway he has been busted by trading standards, not for his work ,
but for bogus decals on the side of the motors ,bogus trading addresses and a motorway maintenance sign ,which apparently is illegal unless you are actually working on the motorway
it seems that the govt is taking the al capone route to get people off the street
if they cant get you for the main crime then it is via the back door,

also spoke to a plumber today,he says the scrappage scheme is great,he has just put his prices up £400 :(

FWIW a decent baxi boiler is about 7-800 quid and about £600-700 to swap it over, thats real prices not made up ones
