what was it that went wrong?, thermal couple/high limit stat are the main two things that cause your boiler to cut out both of which cost under a tenner.

i could have flown down to luton, fixed the boiler and have few pints in the windmill before the flight home and it`s still cheaper than what lll would have paid for the gas board to fix his boiler.

windmill is a thai run pub now rab, only a 15 minute walk from me
he rang 3 times with delays, couldnt fault him with the snow etc
anyway he got here at 7.15 PM from NW london and by the time i had made the tea he had sorted it
the fan had come off its spindle apparently,he put it back on and oiled it but strongly advised me to get a new fan monday from the plumb centre
total cost £20,but i give him £40 as i want him back,he had 2 more boilers to look at, i was his 5th of a busy busy day
just driving around at the moment is treacherous

What a result!
I would've at least expected a minimum call out charge of say £60. :)

last time i was in the windmill it was a mother and daughter that ran it, just thinking that was about 15yrs ago ??? .

that was a good result with the boiler, would have expected you to shell out a big note.

Had word today that the adjoining Semi next to my Granddad's house, which has been empty since the owd bag croaked it in the summer, ' boiler kicked it yesterday.

Tripped the electrics in my Granddad's house, and flooded the space beneath the floorboards.

When the family who own the house finally got in contact, they went for a gander, all the ceiling's are down, 8 inches of water on the floor etc. - Couldn't happen to a nicer family :p

well its the 21st century joe
its seems that the only pubs doing brisk trade now are the gay ones
a lot of old style boozers have been colonised by the pink pound (no kids, both earning= £££) ,in luton, the kings arms ,the oddfellows arms, the inkerman, and the wellington now have that rainbow sign above the door.
times are changing ,but having said that i have never worked with an openly gay builder, nor done a job for any (mind you with no kids they hardly need the extension)
its like a lot of things in modern life,if it doesn't affect me or my family ,then let it be

Each to their own and all that !

The rugby guy is a brave lad coming out while still playing, they reckon that on average there will be about 50 profesional footballers in the closet but due to contracts, sponsorship and a lack of support in the game they are uklikely to follow his lead.

Time will tell
