Try the ARSSE website for local Garrison links or Catterick has it's own website with info on local stuff to do for service families. From what I remember nightlife there is like the wildwest and if you're not a good runner then you're f#cked.

there are some nice restaurants in Ripon, this one in particular

The Old Deanery

its not a million miles away from where your staying but Ripon is a small but nice City to visit

hopefully you won't bump into any scroats either :D

Night one ended up having a subway salad because everyone knackered after long drive. Second day went to parade and buffet meal provided, eat what you want, so did. After that went back to hotel and ended up the wife and i babysitting so that the lad and his girl could go out with the other new soldiers. He proposed to her, so they made a night of it. The wife and i had a burger king in our room. Next morning still with baby managed to get a breakfast, do shops, whilst the happy couple slept till 12.00. 3.00 oclock headed back eating more shite as we hit the services. got back last night at 10.30, knackered again. just waiting to tuck into a roast. Eaten a box of rennies so far. But it was a good do watching them all become, hopefully, the next heroes.

Well would you fecking believe, that Yorkshire, i was so proud to have lived in once, has sent us back south with gastroenteritis The wife has been violently sick, diarrhea and almost passing out when she retches. The 12 month old Granddaughter has it to. i have had to delay going to work until tomorrow to look after her, so wont get paid for the day, or be entitled to my full subsistence so will have to shell out of my own pocket for digs. :( I suppose that's what happens when you eat crap. ???

Did some work at a Burger King a couple of years back, the staff sent a young lad out to get their breakfasts including tea and cofee.

Nuff said :(

i wouldnt blame it on anyone in particular sean,me and the rest of the lout family have all had the trots for over a week
miss lout went to the doctors, and he said drink plenty of fluid, its a bug thats going round

Its easy to slate maccy d's, burger king etc. but sometimes when you are cold and hungry ,their roadside locations and cheap prices are just way too convenient to be ignored

by far the worst stuff i have eaten has come from greasy spoons and roadside vans, running water for washing of hands??
