G'evening all! First time posting and thumbs up to Tony for fantastic site! I'm doing drive and decided to go with Marshalls Tegula, just don;t know whether to go for Traditional or Pennant Grey? Property is a 1930's detached finished in white masonry with woodland type garden. Marshalls are clearing Tegula range out and they're available at £12 p/m2, down side is they're only available in 1 size 120x160x60, would it cost more to do this size rather than a mixture? drive is approx. 130m2 with 30m2 path and advised by Marshalls to get 15% extra to allow for waste = 193m2. Also any idea how much for labour only? Property available to view at Marshalls visiualiser: http://www.marshalls.co.uk/transform/driveway_visualiser/dv.asp - just put in my email address. Any info would be highly appreciated - many thanks

Also, is it worth going with a Marshalls approved contractor to have the blocks laid? As for drainage - would letting the rain water run off into stone rocks acting as a retaining wall be permissable and satisy regulations to avoid planning permission? Thanks

i see you live in Wolverhampton give Matthew a ring he covers your area and is approved
local driveways to you
personally i think it would look rubbish in those small units, but speak to some local contractors first

I dont think the "small" size teg would look that great on a area of that size and may look to bitty and bland if they are all the same colour. I use tobermore teg block which i find are just as good as marshalls if not better and come in 60mm depth for not much more than the £12m2 that you have been quoted, have a look on their website.
As for the drainage aspect, you can lay a surface water channel (aco)across the driveway entrance to intercept the water and direct it into a soakaway providing its more than 5m away from the house and is falling that way.
good luck mate !

Thank you all for the sound advice! Point taken on using the 1 size - so what would be the best ratio to mix in other size(s) to give a better effect without having to compromise too much on the number of 120x160x60 being swapped? Marshalls currently have 193m2 Traditional on hold to deliver in January so I'll try and change order, local build centre may be able to provide other sizes at £16 m2. Thanks for your recommendation LLL - I'll get in touch with Michael as soon as I've got the blocks sorted. Thanks once again as you've probably saved me cocking up the front yard and living with regret as once a driveways laid too late to make changes.

Just this minute sent an email to cancel order - Builder Centre have confirmed they have the different sizes available. I'll get in touch with mickiel about the job also and he may wish to supply - many thanks.

G'evening LLL

Just emailed Matthew from website link you provided. Builder Centre have agreed a price of £15.50 per square metre on any of the sizes, which is pretty reasonable. Travis Perkins quoted £21! It all adds up when you need approx. 160 sq mtr. Its always best to spend a little more and get a proper job done rather than cut corners and regret after. You guys have done me a huge favour! Whilst I'm waiting for Matthew to get back to me, is it best to lay blocks vertically or horizontally on a path as I could still use 120x160 i.e. 5 blocks side by side to running up the length of measuring 60 cm wide and 20 metre long. Thank you once again.
