New idea, might work.
Don't know how well the calcium carbonate sets, might get washed out, but it shows a glimmer of genius.

self healing concrete not exactly new. underground concrete pipes self seal the cracks over time

This research comes from the same university department that leads the world in handling of paving materials. I have some deeper background info somewhere...

lime mortar self heals when it has cracked
but that is because it is flexible in the first place
