Has anyone used the Marshall's Old Yorkstone Coping and if so, were you happy with them? The brochure's image is of a an attractive slate grey coping, which we thought would go great with our new patio and brick wall, but what we have received has a buff 'stain' which looks like we haven't cleaned off the mortar after laying them.
Having sent some photos to Marshalls they have stated that there is no manufacturing fault and that they are intended to replicate shades of natural stone, but the brochure makes no mention of the splodges of buff. We have not laid them yet, but everyone who has seen them agrees that they look odd.

Is there a way to load an image into the post straight from your PC, as the 'image' button is asking for a URL??

Do you think that the brochure is misleading, as I want to send these back to them and find something that looks good.

you would be better useing a bagridge blue sold brick would not look tatty them copings are crap there would no be any need for a drip on a 4 inch wall hope this helps cheers cookie :p

their awful nothing like brochure i would use 2x1 indian stone probably a bit cheaper and much better quality but go into builders merchants and pick your colour dont order out of brochure ???

This brings up the point that was made earlier this week (or last week) about the dangers of buying, sight unseen, from a brochure or off t'internet. Natural stone, wet cast concrete, and indeed most paving is very, very difficult to assess from photies. There's no depth of field (unless you wear those funny glasses Channel 4 have been giving away all week), there's no natural light or shade, there's a likelihood that the photies have been staged to give the best impression (admit it: we do exactly the same whenever we sell a car on Autotrader), and with some suppliers, you can never be sure whether the images have been PhotoFettled.
We can spend all weekend discussing whether the OP got what the brochure shows or not, but in law he has no case because there is *natural variation* in most paving materials, and the manufacturer can rightly claim that he's got a 'variation' that he didn't fully expect.
I know it's not what the OP wants to hear, and I do sympathise with his plight, but that is how life is. The only way to be sure as to what you're going to get is to go to the supplier and pick it out yourself.

that as may be the case guv' but the OPs copings look feck all like the brochure
any product that you buy has to be fit for the purpose it is intended for and TBH I would be very unhappy to have slate coloured copings with what looks like yellow streaks running through them
I assume consumer law still allows stuff to be returned if it is unsuitable?
And as the other lads have said that type of coping looks pants on a 4 inch wall , class A staffordshire blue would look a lot better

or you could even cut the same bricks as the wall in half and lay a bat soldier course along the top
copings unless they are heavy duty and ridgebacked tend to fail easily

if you look close at the photo of the yorkstone in the marshalls brochure page 49 and on the link you posted above you will see a feint colour of the buff in the flag so i dont think its misleading on the part of marshalls as the colour blend will vary from batch to batch
i know we are alway wise after the event but thats why I hand pick items like this from the merchants to make sure the colours are correct

Thanks for your postings. We tried to see a sample but nobody stocks them, so we had to go with the brochure. Gone back to Jewsons, who are taking it up with Marshall's rep. Looks like general feeling of everybody is they look awful.
Thanks for the advice on alternatives and I will look into that, making sure I see a sample first.
