LLL is close on the price, but it's been a complicated job, as partially explained on the blog (and which is why I've been largely absent from the Brew Cabin for the past couple of months) and a lot of money was wasted on the eejits that claimed to be sett layers and made a right bollocks of the original installations, resulting in over 200m² being ripped up, cleaned off and re-laid.
With all that expense, the garage which Giles kindly came to price, is probably 'on hold' until later in the year.
The bulk of the setts are N.Wales dark basalts which were originally part of the Wilmslow tram shed, allegedly, We edged these with "Tan Tops" which are supposed to be Cornish but I suspect they are actually Wicklow or Dalkey Granite from Ireland. The fans are edged with a relatively cheap Egyptian granite which we chanced upon at the right price. We needed a strong contrast to the basalts but the Tan Tops were too unwieldy and hard to cut whereas the Egyptian granite is brighter and a bit easier to trim.
The granite flagstones are just a G603 sliver granite - nowt special, but again I wanted a contrast for the main area at the front of the house. The side courtyard, which hasn't appeared on the blog yet, has been paved using the original Kerridge sandstone setts that we found hidden at the back of the stable block.
It's all been pointed using Romex D1 in basalt colour and the whole jobs, some 530+m² was jointed in just 4 days, and that includes cleaning!
I'll be putting up more pictures over the weekend, but here's a couple that haven't been published on the blog....
The Courtyard was finished on Monday
You'll never get a wheelbarrow in the back of that car!
It's not bad, is it?

It`s a stunning bit of work, just shows what a good Tradesman can do given the time and money by the client.
