Hi all got a phone call from a guy today and he said he was from some comapny or other, and he was sorting out some sort of tender list for big contractors and blackpool and the fylde council.
He also wanted me to put my advert in a glossy mag that went out to 1500 people a year ( think it was a year ) and for the privelage charge me 520 pounds a year.

He also asked me to meet him on fri and even though i said "well im a bit busy" he still persisted in asking!?

Do you guys think he was genuine and will it generate any business?

He sounded pretty desperate on the phone "you will ring me back wont you" lol

Sounds strange to me

i get these calls all the time. One said i would be exclusively used for all local schools for all their landscaping work, featured in thier brochure that all schools use.
I asked the four schools i already work at , and they have never heard of this so called brochure
Even tesco are trying to scam. They offered me "free" tv advertising in my local store, "so we can put something back into the community". "its free of charge, all the design, adverts etc. All we ask is £20 a week to cover "the satellite link" "
then its not free is it???
the other classic is a phone call to say how if i pay so much a year i can be at the top of google.
i tell them. I am at the top of google now, and it cost me nothing! they don't like that at all!

I was also caught by one of these scams last year.
The "national publication" i was told , was in support of the emergency services.
£500 later no copy of the said publication came to me, and the 3 emergency services have never heard of it .
If you still wish to meet up, then take a sledge hammer with you.

I think we had four calls this very afternoon from companies promising google first page.

Spoke to a clueless telephone sales bod last week and told him any clown can get first page with the right key words.

I am pretty sure the keyword combination Knobrot Llamas Sussex would come top of a google search if my website contained the three subjects, Blocked Drain London however may be a little harder to achieve and maintain.

There is no one visit quick fix on site placement, keywords, links, blogs and fresh good content keep a site up there so either find someone to optimise your site (better still do it yourself) or for a quick response set up a google ad campaign and if you pay enough you will always be on the first page.

Anyway must go out and put some ointment on me llamas todger :;):

If you're having a quiet afternoon, get these SEO twonks all-tied-up-in-knots by asking questions that will determine just how little they know about your site and your business, despite their claim to be able to get you a PR1 ranking.

The clueless gimp that called me yesterday admitted that he'd found my site on page 1 of Google and had phoned to relieve me of hard-earned bobs in return for......getting the site onto page 1 of Google. He went very, very quiet and then hung up.

The very litigious business database bloke whose name begins with a letter somewhere between J and L: think of a famous US-ian political family with two dead brothers and an outpost of the clan on Ramsey St. ;)
