Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help, I need to look at getting my currently Tarmac'ed path to my front door repaired or resurfaced as it looks a mess and the kids keep tripping up or tracking stones into the house.

It's not a big area as the path from the road to the door is about 4 metres long by 1.5m wide and it then runs across the front of the house by about the same size.

The path directly in front of the house is prone to moss growing on it and the path between the house and the road is cracked, rough with loose stones everywhere and just basically looks a mess.

What would you recommend? Is it repairable or will I need to get it ripped up and start again?
If it needs complete replacement am I better off retarmac'ing or getting a quote for PIC?

I know this is a cheeky one but how much would I be looking at paying for the work on average and does anyone know any good contractors in the Manchester area?

A few new edgers, scrape back the existing surface at edges to recieve new, sweep clean and can on some tack coat - hand lay 25mm of 6mm dense and compact using small tools/whacker plate, jobs a good 'un. Oh and plus you really want to give it a good dose of weedkiller in advance of works commencing.

Regional variations on pricing, depends on access etc etc I'd get a couple of tarmach contractors to quote. All you need is an "Overlay"

Dave, thanks for your help. It's a relief to know I don't have to rip the lot up and start again.
