The Brew Cabin

Hi ,
We drained the concrete pool in our garden. it's about 36 cubic metres. I've broken up the bottom (but not the sides) with a drill. The aim is to fill it and then pave over it.
Two questions:
The deep end is always wet and I assume I've hit the water table. After the recent wet weather the pool has half filled up again and hasn't yet drained away- should this worry me? If so, what should I do? (I know, that's 2 questions already). Maybe drill the sides as well?
Now, what should we fill it with? We've been told that 'Dirty Soil' would be ok. (that's a hard centre with dirt around?) Though 3 times the price (Â£690+vat for 60 tonns) we wondered if crushed concrete would be better?

you probably want to take a jack hammer,rather than drill to the base of the pool.to make sure it drains,when you've filled it, then speak to your local skip company and see if they can supply you with "clean" builders rubble for a cheap price,which you can then compact in 100mm layers with a heavy wacker plate to top.

that's the odd thing, I did use a 'kanga' or whatever but the rain still filled it. Made sure to pierce the plastic lining too.

you shouldnt need to pay for hardcore. most grab lorries have to pay to dump it, s0 a free tip to them is a bonus.
Get in touch with some of the smaller firms near you that do this, and you should save some money
