I've got through 3 (three) Nokia 6230i mobiles over the last 18 months - the speaker seems to fail and I can't really make out what callers are saying to me, which isn't professional or efficient to say the least!

What phones do you guys have? How do you find them when faced with damp, sand, grit, gravel and oil/diesel?

I've swapped to a Motorola V3i - we'll see what happens now with a flip phone......

With site conditions like damp, earth, cement dust and getting knocked i was doing on average 3 phones a year. now i wrap my old nokia in one of those blue thingies that go over work boots, kitchen footwear and hospital op rooms. it stops dirt and cushions them quite good. Also protects the screen and lens :)

I have been using a Nokia 6300 for a few months now and seems to be doing the trick... screen is good size and the pics come out good on the computer..... I used a case but the sand when it got inbetween the screen and the case cover scratched it badly.... no more case and keep it in my vest pocket... but the battery doesnt seem to be that good compared to my last phone..
cheers mate i think it is ok... 8 out 0f 10

lol - I was going to get a 6300 but I read reports on the bad battery life. I can't be doing with charging it up every night.

That's the trouble with our job, we are more often than not using some form of noisy machinery - rendering a radio next to useless! :(

Last phone i had was a samsung thing, cant remember the model. Was one of those sliding ones - that was a terrible buy, atleast twice a week would need to blast it with the airline, wouldnt even slide sometimes heh. Got another samsung this time, a flip phone. Its a bit better but battery lasts perhaps 2 days, 3 at a push.

Yep, that was the main reason I was against a slider phone. Glad I resisted!

i have a 6230i, third one actually, like Dave l says the microphone or speaker has went on all of them,, sand is always getting behind the screen and they scratch dead easy, im only using this 1 now because my all singing and dancing nokia n95 had to go back to the insurance company after i put it in me knee pocket and crushed the screen between me knee and a wheelbarrow while mixing concrete, i had only got it brand spanking new 4 days earlier ???

That's like a second skin thing. Bit like a johnny!

I've just ordered a leather case for my new V3i

We'll see how it fares.

Nice to see I'm not the only one suffering 6230i woes.
