i dont know about you lads and lasses but i cant stand soapy spuds,anyway whatever breed the mrs gets lately are like bars of lifebouy,anyone know a supermarket that is flogging nice balls of flour
secondly i planted an acer rubrum in my garden about 6 weeks ago and it has developed small holes about the 10 mm in size in some of the leaves?
anyone know what these are and how to cure them

i know its off topic but i have a feeling you lot are fairly kopped on to important subjects such as these

not partial to soapy spuds neither, but plant problem could be due to acid rain, if there is no sign of live host. Alternatively tell your neighbour to stop burning his chiminea so close to your plants position!

I bring floury taters back with me from Ireland, but when they're cooked up, they are never quite the same. So, on my last few trips, I've been filling a couple of 25 litre drums with Irish water (from a tap, not the ridiculously expensive Ballygowan or Tipperary water) and that *does* make a major difference.

Now I can have colcannon that doesn't cling to the roof of your mouth!

Bout ye Mr Lout, Being a spud fan I grow my own and buy them from the local farmers market when nothing is ready. Yer Acer probaby has an attack of leaf weevil easily treated get down the garden centre. If the holes have a brown edge then its probably leaf scorch caused by aphids or some kind of mite. Maris pipers my favourite for chips.
