Hi, please could someone let me know if CECEC self-binding gravel can be used for driveways? I share a courtyard and there are 7-8 cars using the area regularly and we've been recommended CEDEC as the area is sloping and requires drainage. However most websites refer to it's use only on paths. It's a significant outlay so I don't won't get it wrong! I'm worried that it will wear quickly in the areas cars park. Any experience and advice with CEDEC gratefully received. Many thanks.

for a courtyard with lots of turning i would have thought setts or block paving would be more suitable

CEDEC is a mixture of crushed granites and quartz - here are two links to info. I don't know too much about it's use. I was looking for a cheaper alternative to block paving

These specially graded gravels give a firm surface ideally suited to footpaths, pedestrian or recreational areas

I cant see courtyard car parks there clive?

all the courtyards I have parked in over the years 9mainly old pub and hotel car parks ,have been paved with either setts, tarmac or block paving

cant see any good coming out of a self binding gravel where vehicles rule the roost
cheers LLL :)

CEDEC is a proprietary brand of self-binding gravel from CED.

It's not the best for driveways, but it's adequate and considerably cheaper than the best/market leader.

It won't take kindly to point turns, but then no SBG does. As LLL says, in such situations, a bound paving of some form is the usual recommendation.
