Got a bit of a job on at the moment, 1200m2 farm shop parking area that was hastily (and badly specc'd and laid some 10 years ago!)

Been quite a bit more work than we anticipated - but with the financial agreement with the customer, I hasten to say!

We've dug out circa 400t of material (Tuesday) and stoned up/surfaced back with base course today (ready for surface course) one side of the car park - and have to get the other side ready for surfacing for Monday AM, dig out and stone up the customer entrance area (There is an alternative customer entrance round the side) - plus installation of the last 20M of power cable/alarm cable ducting across a busy entrance splay - on a busy Saturday!

On-site for 6am, it's going to be another 10-12hr day :( Plenty of planing, digging, bucket brushing and irate farm shop customers again! Wish me luck........

I can only just recall the last time I didn't work on a Saturday - May 28th 1990-summat, probably 1994. It was my younger daughter's birthday, so I promised to take the day off and waste it supervising herself and her high-pitched girly chums at a fun-pub about 10 miles away.

I was bored shitless, and then, when I got back in to work on the Monday morning, I found that the lads I'd left to finish concreting a floor at the Vimto factory had completely cocked it up, and it was going to cost me a small fortune to put right.

So I went back to working Saturdays - even Saturdays like today, when I have a legitimate excuse (and passport) to be in the pub celebrating St. Pat's Day.

There's a bottle of Jameson's 12 year old winking at me from the corner of the press - I'm doing my best to resist its allure, but I don't know how much longer I can hold out!

Happy St Pat's Day, everyone!

Just got home after a 14hr day.

Knackered, but we got the job ready for surface course laying Monday.

I'll post up some pics if I can stay awake!

Blimey Sean - that's some working hours mate!

I know what you mean about nodding off mid-beer, I've just nearly knocked my half bottle over this morning as I struggle to open my eyes.

Kids who wake up at 6.45am......NICE
