I just recieved my first five copies (another fifty on order) and I'm very impressed. Good illustrations, an excellent section on setting out and well written narrative.
If I had to find any criticism I'd say that the pricing data will cause the book to date in time but, otherwise, it's excellent.
If you're a hard landscaper I'd say this is compulsory reading; I'd be surprised if it doesn't feature as a standard text at a number of colleges in the near future.
If in doubt, chance your arm with your seventeen quid, you will not be disappointed.

Have had Tonys book over a week now.
Congratulations Tony on a very thorough and concise manual about paving.
As an experienced contractor, most of the information I already know, but for the diy'er or some one just starting out it is a valuable peice of literature. It is also a handy book for the client to show the dodgy contractor when disputes arise !!
The section on History of Paving is very intersesting as are all the other sections.
It has taken a while, but well worth the wait.
Again, congratulaions Tony.

Thanks for the kind comments - and thanks to David for splurging Marshalls' entire Xmas Prezzie budget on my book! 
I've been somewhat taken aback by just how well it has been received, and how many copies have been sold. In my wildest dreams, I never expected it to sell as many as it has done in such a short time. The sales figures from the publisher have shocked me - if those sales were for a full year, I would be pleased enough, but for 10 days??
The only downside is the royalties. Maybe it's because I am new to all this publishing lark, but I made a very basic error regarding the actual returns, and it looks like I'll only receive half of what I expected. Give me a contract for the building trade and I can spot an iffy clause from 100 metres, but publishing is summat else. It seems the pen really is mightier than the shovel!
If (and it's a bloody big IF) I write another book, or agree to a second edition of this one, I'll be a lot more clued-up regarding ambiguous publishing terminology. If I sell every single copy, and then divide the proceeds by the total time spent working on the text, illustration and photographs, it would work out to be pence per hour. How that JK Rowling woman manages, I just don't know!

As far as I know, Dan, you're the first transatlantic owner of the book. I did get an email from someone asking me if I ever travelled over to the US, and if so, could I bring a copy with me, but ordering via Amazon (other online book suppliers are available) seems to be a much simpler option.
