This isn't actually related to drainage but since there are a few hands-on builder type people on here I was hoping you may be able to help anyway!

I am working on a project and have come across some terms that I don't fully understand. They relate to parts of a building, mostly the exterior/roof areas. If possible can someone give a brief descripion of what they mean?

1) Cold pitched roof

2) Gable end

3) Gable end construction

I think I know what 2 is....a gable end is the triangular section located between the two opposing sides of a pitched roof? Is that correct?

I have no idea about 1 and 3 though.... :P

Thanks in advance

Hey Robster!

Its usually flat roof construction (pitch between 0 and 10 degrees) that is described as cold or warm deck. Cold would refer to the insulation being placed on the ceiling lining between the joists, whilst warm would have the insulation placed between the waterproof covering and the roof decking. Does this help at all? What is the roof covering to be?

Know what your getting at with your gable end description and reckon your looking at the right wall so I won't confuse you with a more technical definition!

Gable end construction? Are you wanting to know how to build a gable end or is it something to do with the way an existing gable end has been built?

Hope this is some use to you! :)
