I know that some of the Contractors frequenting The Brew Cabin are going over to Tobermore Towers in Norn Iron next Thursday for the Annual Contractors' Meeting. This will be a novel experience for many UK Contractors, unaccustomed to the largesse of paving manufacturers in Ireland and other civilised parts of the world, but it promises to be a valuable experience that gives everyone a chance to learn more about how the blocks and flags and kerbs that we lay on a daily basis are actually manufactured. It also gives you a chance to question the management, the transport dept, the lads in the yard, the designers, the switchboard, and everyone else that has probably been just "a voice on the 'phone" up until now, and you will also get to meet a lot of other professional, dedicated contractors all looking to promote best products and best practice in our industry.
Return to Blighty is scheduled for Friday lunchtime-ish, and it's been suggested that some of the Brew Cabin Irregulars might like to meet up on the Friday night for a few bevvies and an informal chat about how they think it all went, and other burning issues affecting the paving trade.
I've got summat to do on Friday morning/afternoon, but I'd be well up for a pint or two on Friday evening, if anyone else is interested. Let me know
