Hello all.

Won a job doing a raised decking area and stair case.

Just occurred to me that at 1.2m height it'll probably need planning permission.

However, not 100% certain as it's height is at the same level as the ground floor of the property, it's just the garden drops away significantly. Hence the need for raised decking.

I'm going to follow regs for the staircase anyway but does the customer need to put a planning app in for this decking.

Alternatively, just bloody do it and hope no one complains?

What's your opinion?

Ta

Not your problem. Chances of anyone complaining, slim, chances of council doing nothing, extremely high!

Decking is classed as a "temporary structure" - it's timber, after all (and if it doesn't rot away, the clients will be sick to death of it in no more than two years!) so PP is not required.
