I've just had new boundary walls built. The wall is capped by brick on edge. At the ends of all the pillars/walls in the mortar underneath the top row of bricks they have used galvanised frame clamps The builder has told me this is to keep the end brick in place but I think it spoils the look of the wall. He's said he will cut them off if I want him to. What do you recommend?

I never see the point of them. They look terrible, and never seem to help in anyway to stop the brick from becoming loose. Never used them and never had the problem of loose bricks!

I understand the point of them, but I'm with Dan - they are bleedin' ugly!

I'd rather rely on the last two or three bricks of teh coping being bonded with an SBR mortar - nothing visible but as strong as the frame clamps when cured.
