I've got some heavy steel 8'' acow drain tops. I would like to use them at home, does anyone know where I can get the bottom bit.

Try one, or more builders merchants or drainage suppliers.

probably cheaper to buy a different set unless you need 8" wide as the channels will be expensive

Yes think your right, I don't really need a aco drain, it's just I've got these tops. Will put them back in the pile.

i installed some 250mm wide d900 aco about £350 each inc cast iron grate

make a shutter cast some angle iron in then pull the shutter and cast the base job done

You'll not get anyone to sell you them separately since they'll be left with extra tops themselves. Giles's idea is a good one, I've seen it done in a few places successfully.
My xmas weight in pile isn't even gonna pay for the diesel to get it there this year ffs. :-(

Chuck the cast tops on ebay and put the money towards a set of Aco Civicdrains! The cast steel tops are £20/ea+VAT to buy!
