Hi this is one for roger if he is available, we have a few decks to install and I was wondering what oil you would recommend applying on completion the timbers are larch, cumaru and massaranduba we are looking for a clear finish with uv filters etc, know most of the pavers will say gallon of diesel and a match, but in the right position and using the right materials decking has its place,
Many thanks
Peter

I had a problem with hardwood decking splitting and moving so was recommended this
http://www.owatroldirect.co.uk/product/seasonite/
We put it on a Cedar pergola and it seemed like a good product when we put it on , haven't seen it recently but about 6 months on everything was all good

Peter,
With the Camaru & Massaranduba I would leave the wood for at least 6-12 months after installing before oiling, enough natural oils in those woods, and would be of no gain to the wood plus being hardwoods, they would benefit from a bit of weathering first.
The Larch, again could do with some time to weather really before oiling. As for oil for the wood's then my choice would be this http://www.owatrol.com/index.p....olje-d1
2 coats needed. Excellent finish with this oil.

Osmo do some very good products, as you say for windows doors etc, not used them on decking though LLL and their internal wood oils are second to none. Sikkens
