Hi Experts,

Have I calculated this right?

Minimum To accommodate HGVS

As CBR iS greater than 15%
Ideally if starting from scratch on 3 m wide road with open ditch on one side and grass verge on other
Sub base 225mm
Tarmac binder 50mm
Tarmac surface 20mm
Kerbs to stop crumbling

Minimum Bringing up to standard to bear HGVs
Using existing road which is
110mm hardcore ( not DTP)
10 -20 mm tarmac
Clay subgrade ( is that the right term?)

Sorry forgot to put in figures i thought for bringing up,to standard....so working with what we have ( 110mm hardcore and 10-20 mm tarmac) , to bring this up to stndrd for HGVS :

100mm tarmac on top of existing?

And some Kerbs

Will that work?

300mm sub base, 80mm road base and 40mm 10mm surface course - all as a minimum in my experience.

HGV - are we talking maybe 28t or 44t combinations?

44 tonne combinations

Thanks Dave, took your earlier advice and got core testing and cbr and so working on those results now...we currently have average 110mm hardcore and 0-20mm surface course so think we're a bit under strength!!!

think last one we did for hgvs was 200mm mot, 185mm roadbase, 60mm base course, 50mm hra

but that was a hgv turnaround yard a lot of movements a day
