Hi Guys.

Now Im Chair of the residents association. I've been approached about taking over management of an area locally.
I noticed previously that the ground workers seemed to have gotten the plans upside down as there's 3 drains IN the grassed area (see pics)
There's a large carpark to the left of the area, so I assume they should have been installed at the kerbside of that (as there isn't any on the carpark)
There doesnt seem to be any issues with them 'as is', but as we'd be legally responsible for this plot, do you think the position of the drains would be an issue in the future? Do you think there's a solution to it or not a problem?
Theres a large shopping centre local to the plot, so don't want to be gumming up eveyone's plumbing.

Is it my failing eyes of does that flagged path backfall towards the grassed area?

Hi Tony, thanks for replying

Yes its does a little, they wouldn't have installed three 300x300 for that, would they? I never thought of seventies navvies as so conscientious

There's no 'shore' around the drain either, just mud.

I can't figure out just what they've done.

I'm guessing the path is intened to backfall onto the grass and the silted-up-to-buggery-and-beyond gullies were intended to take overspill surface water, but why not just install a basic intereceptor land drain with access points at each end?

Are there any plans for the site, showing why the drainage was installed as it has been?

No Tony, no plans as of yet.
I really think they made a big balls up. The foot path is only 4ft wide, so any run off would have been adequately absorbed by the grass.
If you look at the overall pic, the arrows show the location of the drains and the inspection cover, enough to take the run off of the car park , but in the grass lol.
Like I said, there's just soil around it, Im sure if it was a run off, there would be some sort of gully or surround around the drain cover.

Ah! Worked it out. There was a proposed car park on the right ,where the grass is and it was mothballed. Kerbs installed (looks like edging with the grass and soil build up) and drainage too.
Just needs a scrap off and black topping now :laugh:
