Your wisdom please

I would be very grateful if you could assist us with the following.

We excavate trenches to locate roots. Our clients are requesting that not only do we backfill, but we finish with a hard surface (concrete or tarmac). Often it is more than a non-trip finish they require, it is now usually for occasional vehicle/lorry traffic.

My trenches are only 300mm wide, with hard surfaces either side and tend to run for no longer than 5 metres. I know I have to compact the backfill with a trench tamper in layers, but very little else, I am an Arborist!

Please advise as to easiest way to provide a durable surface capable of allowing lorry access.

What depth of compacted aggregate?

Do I need geo textile between aggregate and backfill?

What is better (cost, ease of installation, durability), concrete
or tarmac?

What depth of tarmac /concrete?

Do I need to seal the edges, if so with what?

With concrete do I need to reinforce?

Does the care required (as read on this website) to make sure the concrete goes off right make this more risky?

Thank you for your wisdom.

Kind regards

Robert
