I remember seeing someone, I think Luton, mention they used plastic sheeting rather than OSB or the like for protecting surfaces under tracks and so on.
I searched but couldn't find it again. Anyone know what they are or what do you use?
I'm getting sick of lugging around 12mm ply sodden to the gills. Plastic seems easier to clean and lighter as it won;t take on water.

cordek boards but they are only for pedestrian use
if a machine is involved its 3/4 inch play all the way

D.S.L OR DEBRAH SERVICES LTD hire plastic composite mats for machine use in various sizes I have used 8x4 mattsunder a genie boom and my 3t digger,clean and easy to move don't absorb moisture easy to clean and store MSH

I looked in to buying the "proper" matting for this, it is HELLA EXPENSIVE. Ply everytime

Cheers! More keeping things clean and tidy than major ground protection.
Its mainly for very small machines, a tracked pedestrian dumper I hire out quite frequently. Micro diggers etc.
One of my customers is a plastics guy and said he can get me 2.4mm pvc sheets but i imagine a few stones and track might just eat that for breakfast

It was me who mentioned the plastic sheets. I brought 10 and they are bulletproof. Think mine are 9mm
Solway recycling sell them. They are made from recycled farm plastics. They call them stock board. Had a seven tonne steel tracked machine over mine, not a mark on them. They have also been used countless times to pile soil on, then have a grab remove from them.

£80 each is a bit steep but i suppose they will last. I need about 15 for job I'm pricing but can't pass that on or i won't get it. Ply boards it is then.

I've got some 12mm marine ply ones faced in 1mm steel from nhs job they're what the portacabins are clad with, after job there was a pile of them 8'x1.5' and full sheets great for running machines on metal side down. And best part I actuall charged them to take them away

Think im gonna get 15 of those in 8x4 big outlay for me but great as an upsell to customers when they hire machines
