We're looking at gravel for our new driveway to reduce cost and complication as drainage might be difficult to install cheaply with no drains of any kind on our property, only our neighbours'.

Is gravel over type 1 MOT considered permeable? I'm planning on edging it with haunched blocks, this won't create a 'basin' will it?

The drive slopes gently towards the house, and there's a 4ft deep border between drive and house.

Thanks.

gravel over type 1 should be fine
the subgrade will affect drainage a bit,but gravel is by definition permeable

Thanks LLL.

I'm doing a drain down test on the subgrade just in case it's a solid lump of clay, but I think it should be ok.

Just to back up what LLL has said, I dont think you will encounter any problems
