First time poster... I am contemplating putting in a new access road / track through a field. The track would be used by cars, tractors, horseboxes etc on a daily basis. It would be approx. 200m long and maybe 2.5/3m wide with say two passing places, big enough for a large horsebox. What grade / depth of sub base should I be looking at and any idea of a guide price? Also, may be looking to get it tarmaced eventually, so is there anything I need to know before? Thanks for any advice.
ideally heavy duty
200mm of subbase and 150 of concrete
but budget may dictate this
others will come with a budget but its going to cost a few quid

You may need a geo-textile if the sub-grade is iffy in any way, and if you want a decent tarmacadam job, you'll need an edge restraint or kerb of some description.
the muckaway will determine how much make up you'll have, ie, capping layer, geotextile, sub base. depending on conditions, also as the boss suggested, an edge restraint.
Also consider access for a fire engine. Im pretty sure thats a legal requirement if it leads to buildings. Ive had two jobs widening tracks for that very reason
