Hi first poster here and seeking advice. I have a chicken run about 18ft roughly square. The site is slightly sloping and the soil is heavy on a bedrock of slate. The run gets very waterlogged, esp at bottom. I have some plastic pipe of a sensible diameter and weight to drill to use as land drains but how do I set about the project.
What size holes do I need to drill in the pipes?
How deep do the trenches need to be?
Will gravel do as a base? and what do I need to top the pipe. the very top layer wil be soil and hopefully grass once I can sort the drainage out.
There is a terrace wall just below the run which I could drill through to allow soak away, It drains into the garden so would not contaminate anything.
The job is feasible I just need to know how. I have pick axe etc and am not scared of hard work. Thanks.
